Psalms 48:8 NASB1995 As we have heard, so have we seen In the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God; God will establish her forever. Selah.
I love my home town. What is it that makes me love it? It is my home. I wasn't born here. I wasn't raised here. However, I have lived here longer than I have lived anywhere. I have no desire to leave and go anywhere else on earth. That is unless God tells me to. Because where He takes me is always better. Perhaps you feel the same about your hometown.
There is one hometown that I know I will love even more. It is the hometown of the Lord. Jesus is preparing for me a place in it right now. It will make me forget how much I love Henderson and how much I love Tennessee. It will make me forget how much I love the USA. It will make me forget, simply because it is the hometown of the Lord. It is His city He will dwell there with His family forever! All the earth will burn in fire but there will be a new Jerusalem come down out of heaven 1500 miles by 1500 miles by 1500 miles. As high as it is long and wide. My mind can not fathom such a city. However, would I expect anything less from the God of all creation. Oh, how I can't wait to go home to Zion. There I will live with my heavenly Father forever. What a day glorious day that will be! Our text ends with the word Selah. A musical term meaning rest. I will rest there with God forever. In band when you have a rest you take a breath. God breathed life into us and in the New Jerusalem we will experience that breath of life the way it was meant to be, for the first time and forever! Life at rest at home in God's presence forever praising Him in fellowship with all my brothers and sisters in Christ. Now that is a hometown!
