The importance of teaching our youth about God and showing them that they need to be sold out for Jesus, can not be underestimated.
There will come a time when the world will try to tell them it is ok to not be focused on God. They will try to draw their attention away from Him. However, a young person sold out for God can make a huge difference. 2 Chronicles 34:3 For in the eighth year of his reign while he was still a youth, he began to seek the God of his father David; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the Asherim, the carved images and the molten images.
At the age of 16 Josiah believed upon God and placed His faith in the coming Messiah. It was at this point he started to seek to grow in The Christ. During his reign the Word of the Lord was discovered in the temple. It had not been read from in many years do to evil kings. (This is the same thing many people do to children. They keep the Word of God away from them by not or seldom exposing them to it.) When the Word was discovered it was read to Josiah and he desired to follow it completely. This caused a great revival in the land as people turned back to God. Scripture tells us, that he read God's Word in the hearing of the people and listen to how God responded. 2 Chronicles 34:27 “Because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before God when you heard His words against this place and against its inhabitants, and because you humbled yourself before Me, tore your clothes and wept before Me, I truly have heard you,” declares the Lord.
God hears people who come to Him in child like faith. We need to make sure as much as we can that children hear and stay in the Word of God. This is for His Glory their edification and for keeping at bay the evil of the world. Many of us have failed at this but it is not to late to start now.
Teach children the Word of God and watch how God will work through them!
