On the fourth of July, we celebrate our nation. We think about our history and all that we love about our country. We look at the freedom we have and we are thankful. At least some of us are.
We recognize that we have failed in some things, that we have at times done wrong, and we strive to be better.
Yet many desire to take down the nation we are thankful for. Many of those were born here and some trace their lineage back to families that have been here for a long time. Yet they are not thankful to be citizens of this great nation. They carry the name but they do not carry the desire, the hope, and the promise of what it means to be a USA citizen.
They just see it as something inherited in the flesh.
The same goes for many people who identify as Christians of the flesh.
Romans 9:8 NASB95 That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants.
People think that they can be born into something, but if they don't believe in, commit to, and live in with their Spirit, then they are just connected by the flesh, which begins to die at birth. It must go deeper than the flesh for it to be real.
There are people in the church who are there in flesh only. There are people in Christ who are there in the flesh only. They will find out that those who are adopted in the Spirit, trusting in the promise are the real children of God.
Do you believe in the promise? Are you connected in the Spirit? Have you lived in His grace by faith? These are all one.
It is only by this one thing, faith in Christ, that you are a Child of God. Don't trust in the flesh. Live in the promise of eternal life.
I am blessed I am American. I am even more Blessed to be a child of God. In that I have faith!
