‭Habakkuk 2:1 I will stand on my guard post And station myself on the rampart; And I will keep watch to see what He will speak to me, And how I may reply when I am reproved.

If you are a Christian you are in the army of God. We are trained through the church to fight the battles against Satan. We are to fight for the souls of the lost with the good news (the gospel) of Jesus because it is the power of God to Salvation. We are to stand in the gap of the wall prepared with the word of God. We are to stand watch and give warning of the upcoming wrath on those who don't have Jesus. All of this is our responsibility in God's army. However, we often find ourselves like Habakkuk. He says he will stand on the guard post looking out from the tower as he is supposed to do but look at who he is looking for and why. He is waiting on the Lord and the reason is to see how the Lord will reprove (correct) him. He is waiting to be chastised and he is preparing his response. He is ready to give God his excuse for his wrongdoings. We often find ourselves preparing excuses for why we are not spending enough time in prayer. We are preparing excuses for why we don't read God's word enough. We are preparing our response for our lack of verbal witnessing. We are ready to argue why we can't be committed to the church and the assembling of the saints except on Sunday morning if we even make it then. We have the I am too busy excuse work family etc. ready to spring on the Lord when He asks why we are not committed to Him.

He is seeking the best for us. He has trained us and is fighting for us. Yet we instead of seeking forgiveness and striving to serve correctly are in our pride standing watch not for Satan and his demon but for God so we can give Him our excuses.

Habakkuk says I will stand on my guard post but instead of doing the work of God I will act as if He is my enemy. Are we doing the same?

Jesus died for our forgiveness why do we spend so much time seeking excuses instead of as Habakkuk realizes in verse 4 ‭Habakkuk 2:4 “Behold, as for the proud one, His soul is not right within him; But the righteous will live by his faith.

Let's keep our soul focused on pleasing God by living in our faith.

Love Bro. Scott
