There are three words used to describe Jesus and although He is all three, all three do not describe the same part of who He is. The first word is God. God describes the deity, the supreme being, and the self-existent one. Jesus is God because He is the supreme being who has always existed. Jesus described as God means He is the only deity you trust in (there is no other) all else has been created by Him. Then there is the Savior. Jesus is the Savior because He has delivered from sin, those who place faith in Him, Savior means deliverer or redeemer. This describes Jesus as He paid the wages of sin on the cross and in the grave. Jesus described as Savior means He has redeemed you from your eternal Hell. The last is the one we will focus on today. The word is Lord. Lord describes Jesus as master, supreme in authority, and controller.
Jesus described as Lord means He has complete control over you. Jesus as your Lord is saying He decides your actions, thoughts, and desires. Luke 6:46 says, “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?"
Many people are willing to accept Jesus as God some will accept Him as Savior, but few want Him as Lord. They do not want Him to be in control of their life. They are sure that He is God, and they want to be saved from an eternal hell, but if that means they have to do His desires they just won't go that far. Jesus makes it clear that you can't call Him Lord and not be willing to obey Him. Jesus says this is a dangerous place to be. Yet many will live right there. Listen to how Jesus describes the person who surrenders to His Lordship versus the one who keeps control. Luke 6:47-49 Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.”
Allow Him to be your Lord and there is no shaking or even a quiver when the flood (destruction) comes. However, if you don't accept Him as your Lord then the flood causes collapse and ruin. Make no mistake Jesus is God, Savior, and Lord, the question is do you accept the one who is all three or just part of the deity, supreme being, the self-existent one, deliverer, redeemer, master, supreme in authority, and controller of all. The name is Jesus, to truly accept Him is to go all the way and mean it when you call Him Lord, Lord. Praying my Lord is yours too. Love Bro. Scott
