Ezekiel 41:4 NASB95 He measured its length, twenty cubits, and the width, twenty cubits, before the nave; and he said to me, “This is the most holy place.”

Ezekiel is a very interesting person in scripture. His book is filled with so much information and detail. I enjoy reading it. Ezekiel is a priest, and in our passage today, he has been taken to Israel from captivity in a vision so that he might reveal to the Jews the new temple. He is led by a man with the appearance of brass. This man was probably an angel. Reflecting in the appearance of polished brass was the glory of the Lord. However, it is possible that this is the pre-incarnate Christ. This being leads Ezekiel into the temple for measurements, but in our text, Ezekiel stops at the entrance to the Holy of Holies, and only the man with the appearance of brass goes in. Notice in our text Ezekiel says "he," speaking of the being who measured its length.

This shows us the glory of God. Ezekiel, the priest, was not allowed into the Holy of Holies even though the glory of God had yet to fill it. God doesn't do this until chapter 43. Because the cleansing of Christ had not yet happened, Ezekiel did not go in. Had he gone in, he would have defiled the Holy place of God.

Isn't it amazing that with the cleansing by the blood of Jesus, now all believers are allowed into this Holy throne room of God? At the death of Christ. Matthew 27:51 NASB95 And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split.

There was no longer a covering of the Holy place. No longer would Ezekiel or any follower of Christ be prohibited from God because of the cleansing power of the blood of Christ.

Now, all followers of Christ can, as the writer says in Hebrews 4:16 NASB95. Therefore, let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Don't you know Ezekiel wanted to draw near in awe to the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace? However, he knew that God was Holy and he was not. Therefore he rightly did not enter.

I love this lesson in Ezekiel that shows the Holiness of God, the filthy rags of our righteousness, and gives prophecy to the cleansing power of the blood of our Savior Jesus!

Thank you, Jesus, for your blood.

Love Bro. Scott
