Isaiah 53:10 NASB1995 But the Lord was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.
How hard it would be to crush your only Begotten. Yet how pleased would you be that He was willing to give himself up to save others? An act that would break your heart yet make it swell in joy with thankfulness for the righteousness of your son.
This is what took place on Calvary.
The Father was pleased with the actions of the Son's life and the righteousness of His death. Sins were laid upon Him and yet He acted in a completely righteous and Holy way in His death. With all the sins of all the world laid upon the Son, He died without ever sinning.
Thus the Father was pleased to crush Him. He also knew in this Holiness that Jesus would see His offspring. Not children in flesh but in Spirit. Unless you be born again you can not see the Kingdom of God. Those born again are His offspring. They are His brothers and sisters, making Him the firstborn among many brethren.
Although He died on the cross His days will be prolonged. In His resurrection, He lives forever more. His days will be unending.
In His nail-scarred hands, the pleasure of the Lord will prosper. What is the pleasure of the Lord? Psalm 149:4 NASB95 For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the afflicted ones with salvation.
It is in our salvation from sin that the Lord finds pleasure in.
What brings pleasure to the Lord is His people being with Him.
What brings Him pleasure is His people being obedient to Him.
What brings pleasure to the Lord is His people living out His will.
Do we bring pleasure to the Lord?
Or have we, on occasion, pleased Him but the rest of the time broke His heart with our sin?
Psalm 5:4 NASB95 For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; No evil dwells with You.
We should strive to bring pleasure to our Father and Creator.
