God doesn't look at the volume of your giving. He looks at the faith of it.

Jesus sat down and began to watch as people gave their tithes and offerings. He watched and saw many rich people giving large amounts, then came a poor widow. She put in two copper coins. Jesus watched and then said to the people gathered around Him. Mark 12:43 NASB95 Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the contributors to the treasury.

They had seen the two coins. They knew that the amount she had given wouldn't buy anything, yet the Lord said she put in more. How can this be? We understand the laws of Arithmetic. Value x quantity = total value. Her two coins were worth .5 cents each; the total value, by the laws of arithmetic, is 1 cent.

This is what scripture tells us she put in. Thus the law works. The rich people put in higher value coins x a higher quantity, so according to the law of Arithmetic, they had to have put in more.

Yet Jesus, who is Lord, sees what others cannot see. He tells them, "Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the contributors to the treasury." He sees the faith of the giving. Does this mean that the wealthy must give all their wealth to the church? No, it just means when you give, God doesn't look at the volume as much as He does the faith.

Are you trusting Him? When you drop in your tithe (ten percent), are you in faith saying, "God, everything I have is yours, so here is the amount you require from me"? Then, when you put in your offering, are you saying Lord everything I have is yours. What do you want me to do with every piece of it? I will be obedient because I want to live completely by faith. Lord, do you want me to put in another ten percent, or one hundred percent, or maybe one percent? Lord, I just want to give you whatever you want because You are my Lord, which means I am totally yours, and everything I have, has been given by You and is Yours. I place my total faith in You. When doing this, the Lord sees the volume of your faith and is pleased.

We don't even need to contemplate the dollar amount after the ten percent tithe. We just need to, by faith, be obedient as He speaks.

Are the offering plates overflowing?

We look at the volume of money, but the Lord is looking at the faith. I pray that God finds our plates overflowing with faith. The widow put in all she had to live on. That is an enormous amount of faith

You know you can pay your tithe even when you're not at church, but faith requires your presence!

Jesus is watching. How much are you giving? A widow's mite of faith is more in the eyes of Jesus than a million dollars with no faith.
