Newton's third law of motion states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Man's finite understanding sees this as a must for everything. We have a thought process, because of our limited understanding, that for there to be light there must be darkness; we think that for there to be good there must be evil, but this is not absolutely true. While it makes sense to us, we are not God, who has omniscience and infinite understanding. God, who is good, has always existed, as He is Yahweh, the self-existent one. He existed in his righteousness when there was no evil. Yet, to make creation with free will, some of creation would choose to go against goodness, thus creating evil. It is this that causes us to see two sides. We understand light and dark, hot and cold, motion and stillness. We even understand it as a necessity in the physical realm. Which is why we have Newton's third law of motion. So God shows us the two sides of eternity. His word says, Malachi 4:1-2 NASB95 “For behold, the day is coming, burning like a furnace; and all the arrogant and every evildoer will be chaff; and the day that is coming will set them ablaze,” says the LORD of hosts, “so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.” “But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and skip about like calves from the stall.
One side of eternity is hell. It is an everlasting fire that consumes everything but never depletes the fuel that it is consuming. One way to look at this is to attempt to understand. Have you ever attempted to eat something that seemed to grow and get thicker as you chew it? It appeared to start out small, but the more you consume it in your mouth, the bigger it feels. Even if you manage to swallow it, the taste stays with you for hours. This is an illustration that pales in comparison to the consumption of the soul in the fires of hell. The soul which is arrogant and evil in that it denies Christ, will be completely consumed for all of eternity in fire, yet will never cease to exist. "It will leave them neither root nor branch.” Yet the chaff will never stop being the fuel of the never-ending fire. The soul is the chaff. In this existence, there will always be a second side that the soul will know of and recognize, but never be able to attain, in its state of consumption.
Then there is the other side. Which we struggle to understand in our finite processing. The scripture says, "for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and skip about like calves from the stall." For those whose soul has placed its faith in the grace of God through the salvation of His Son, there is light. The beams of the Sun of Righteousness will provide light to the point that there is no existence of darkness. He will heal to the point where there is no existence of sickness. He will provide freedom to the point that there is no capture. Those who have placed their faith in the grace of the name of Jesus will, for the first time, completely understand that there is no need for a second or opposite side when in the presence of God. In the presence of God, there is no tail side of the coin. There is no hot side of the pillow. There is no everlasting hell. There is no chaff; there is only grain. There is no death; there is only life.
This is difficult to understand, but in God's presence there is only God. There is no other side! With all of this and so much more, I know that at this moment, while there are two sides, I want to place my faith in the one who can exist with only one side! I want to spend eternity where there is no other side
