Revelation 12:17 NASB95 So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

If you ask many historians why Adolph Hitler hated the Jews, they often give five or six reasons. I think the answer is found in this verse.

He was guided by the serpent of old, the great dragon who has hated and sought to destroy God's plan to bring a Savior who is already Lord. Since Genesis 3:15, Satan, who understood that he cannot defeat God, has attempted to destroy God's people. If he could destroy the Jews, the Savior would not come. If he could destroy God's covenant people, then God could not keep His covenant. Satan has been attempting this for millennia. Yet has still not succeeded. Hitler has been just one of many attacks against the Jews. The Savior has already arrived, but Satan still desires to make it so God can't keep His covenant. No covenant people = no covenant. Satan now has broadened his attacks to include those who are Christians—those who have placed their faith in Jesus the Christ as their Lord and Savior. No Church = no bride.

In our text, the Apostle John speaks of a time in the future when Satan, the serpent or dragon, will go after those who are children of God through their faith in the seed of the woman. He is the only begotten Son of God, the Christ. He is named for His purpose: Jesus is Jehovah's Salvation.

Satan does not quit until he is thrown into the lake of fire for eternity. He seeks out those who keep their Lord's commandments. Then he attacks us with everything he has.

These are his tactics. We have seen it multiple times. One of the reasons Hitler was not successful is that he threw everything he had in so many directions that he overextended himself. Satan is conducting that same attack style presently against God's Church. Because many don't trust with faith the Lord God to protect them, they claim His name Christian while not keeping His commandments. This doesn't work. Then we wonder why we struggle so much.

We will only win if we"keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus."

John 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies.”

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

John 15:1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.”

Revelation 22:12, 13, 16, 20a. NASB95 “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.” He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.”

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

Now that is a testimony, and I will hold to Him.

Revelation 19:11-16 NASB95 And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the winepress of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

Revelation 19:19-20 NASB95 And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone.

Hitler is gone, and the Jews are still here!

One day Satan will be gone, and those who follow Jesus will still be here!

Jesus is the beginning, and Jesus is the end, and Satan he...... Well, he is defeated!
