Psalm 29:1-11 NASB95 A Psalm of David. Ascribe to the LORD, O sons of the mighty, Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in holy array. The voice of the LORD is upon the waters; The God of glory thunders, The LORD is over many waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful, The voice of the LORD is majestic. The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; Yes, the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, And Sirion like a young wild ox. The voice of the LORD hews out flames of fire. The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; The LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the LORD makes the deer to calve And strips the forests bare; And in His temple everything says, “Glory!” The LORD sat as King at the flood; Yes, the LORD sits as King forever. The LORD will give strength to His people; The LORD will bless His people with peace.
How often do we give the Lord the Glory He is due?
Before you answer, let's take a very brief moment and look at the Lord!
The Lord created by the sound of His voice. There is such power and authority in His voice that the nothingness obeyed and became something. Where there was nothing, His voice spoke, and nothing obeyed and became creation! We are talking about absolutely nothing: no air, no matter, no substance existed, and God came into the nothingness and spoke. There was nothing until the Lord's voice stirred up nothing, and everything became from nothing.
How often do we give the Lord the glory He is due?
Before you answer, let's take a very brief moment and look at the Lord
There is no power greater than the Lord. His voice is heard in the thunder, which can't contain it. It reverberates into crashing waves from every molecule of water in all the world in an instant. It pushes the wind by the heat of the sun. His voice is heard in the cracks ringing out through the forest as trees such as giant cedars break in two. His voice is so powerful. Yet it is majestic as it causes the nations of all the earth to join in dances of excitement. When the sun comes up and darkness retreats, creation comes alive with energy, releasing the glory of the Lord's voice.
How often do we give the Lord the Glory He is due?
Before you answer, let's take a very brief moment and look at the Lord!
Solar flares shoot out from the sun, releasing the power and glory of the voice of the Lord. It simply can not contain the powerful majesty of the Lord's voice in all its glory. The voice of the Lord causes the earth to quake and reveals His strength. Even in the wilderness, where man is not present, and in the depths of the sea, the glory of the Lord erupts as His voice rings forth from the glory of the Lord. Every single item in His temple reveals the glory of the Lord. These, made by human hands, are only representations of the Lord's glory. However, every item of creation reverberates the voice of the Lord, as His voice spoke in power, righteousness, glory, and majesty to create them!
How often do we give the Lord the glory He is due?
Before you answer, let's take a very brief moment and look at the Lord!
The LORD sat as King at the flood; Yes, the LORD sits as King forever. The LORD will give strength to His people; The LORD will bless His people with peace.
In His glory He is King, ruling in righteousness over His creation forever. From His voice speaking creation into existence from nothing, through the flood, continuing at the end of time and in all of eternity. The glory of the Lord shows in His kingship over all His creation.
However, one part of creation the Lord has treated differently. He didn't speak mankind into creation. Instead, Scripture reveals in Genesis 2:7 NASB95. Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
He didn't use His voice to create the life of man. Instead, He used the breath behind the voice! We truly are His special creation made in His image. We are the object of His love. 1 John 4:19 NASB95: We love, because He first loved us.
The LORD will give strength to His people; The LORD will bless His people with peace.
The glory, power, and majesty of His voice are amazing. Yet His care for us meant He went even deeper to create us. He used the breath that forms the voice to create eternal life in us. Satan and sin tempted man to turn His back on God. So, out of His love, He sent His Son who is the Word spoken out of the voice full of the breath of life to give His life to purchase us back!
How often do we give the Lord the glory He is due?
The answer: not often enough!
Give the Lord His glory. Give Him all of you! You contain more than the Glory of His voice. You contain the life of His voice. You contain the Holiness of the Lord's breath!
