Today is September 20th. Is that important? Not really, but if I didn't do these devotions daily I probably wouldn't know this. You see time can get away from us.

Because it seems like September just started I would have guessed today was around the 8th-10th.

We get so caught up in things that are of no eternal consequence that time seems to move without us noticing. Because of this, we often don't accomplish the things God has given us to do. However, when we do the things God has given us to do we are keenly aware of how short time is. As I said, because of this devotion, I know today is September 20th.

Luke writes in Acts 1:10-11 NASB1995 And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”

As Jesus was taken away into heaven the apostles stood and just stared into heaven. How long they stood and stared we dont know but it appears it wasn't very long and yet it was to long. Luke puts nothing in between their staring at Jesus' asscension and the angels delivering the message which makes you think it was quick. However, it was definitely to long because God sent messengers to tell them to stop gazing and get busy. They said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven." They are saying He will return but before He does you have work to do and not much time to do it in. Time can get away from you, so stop losing focus on what Jesus told you to do. We can look back just two verses and see what Jesus told them to do. Acts 1:7-8 NASB1995 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

They were to be looking for the power of the Holy Spirit and then SHARE THE WAY! I will never forget the young boy who prayed to receive Jesus as His Savior. I asked Him what happened and he said "I got energy!" When the POWER of the Holy Spirit come into this young boy he didn't know the words to use and he explained it better than any adult I have ever heard. He said "I got energy," energy to do the work of Jesus until He returns in like manner. We have lost track of time being busy staring at things that have no eternal consequence and we have stopped working toward His return.

He is coming back. Will he find us unsure of the time that has passed. Will we try to explain to Jesus we were not expecting you back so soon, time got away from me.

Maybe we are on the other side. Maybe we will say, we didn't work because we have been staring into the sky waiting for your return. What has taken you so long? We have been watching the clock as every second ticks by thinking this has to be it.

We must remember His words. It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority. We who are saved have been given POWER, (energy) by the Holy Spirit so we are to be CHRIST'S witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

What is todays date?

What time is it?

It is time we focus on being witnesses with a message of eternal life before He returns. Don't worry you won't miss it if you have the Holy Spirit.

Love Bro. Scott
