Psalms 147:1 NASB1995 Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant and praise is becoming.

Are you as close to the Lord as you need to be? We need to be with Him always. He never leaves us, but how often do we leave Him. We wonder why everything seems to be so hard, yet it is in the struggles that we call on the Lord. If we would praise Him in the times of plenty then the times of struggle might not be as plentiful. Our text says Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God. Who is it good for? God is already good so it must be good for us. It is beneficial for us to praise the Lord because it brings us closer to Him. The text also says, For it is pleasant and praise is becoming. The Lord is worthy of praise! In other words it is right to give Him what He deserves. Doing what is right is pleasant in the end.

We can be close to God! We just need to praise Him! Praise Him in the calm and praise Him in the storm. Praise Him in the quiet and praise Him in tumult! Praise Him in our rest and praise Him in our busyness! Praise Him in our confusion and praise Him in our understanding! Praise Him in our despair and praise Him in our joy! Praise Him in our seriousness and praise Him in our fun! Praise Him when we are close to Him and praise Him to get close to Him! There is no bad time to praise the Lord! Praising Him brings us closer to God because He alone is worthy to be praised! Are you not as close to the Lord as you need to be? Then start right now and praise Him!

Praise the Lord!
