Do not miss a thing.
In the book of Numbers, it is easy to get confused and to think about skipping a verse here or there as you read. You could almost compare this book to the fine print of a contract. It can seem tedious and unimportant, but often it is the small print that gets a person into trouble as they have failed to fulfill their part. The book correlates with Israel's time in the wilderness due to a lack of faith and obedience. It also reveals the requirements of pleasing God if you attempt to do it without placing your faith in Jesus.
Moses was given a great task. It was to give in great detail ALL the information God had given him and to do so in the correctness and fullness with which it was given to him.
Our text says, Numbers 29:40 NASB95 Moses spoke to the sons of Israel in accordance with all that the LORD had commanded Moses.
Moses was given the responsibility of making sure that the nation knew everything that was required of them. He had to do this with a stubborn nation that refused to obey, to listen, and often whined about how things were not easy. This happened mostly because they were not dedicated to following and obeying the Lord's guidance through Moses.
We often desire to blame others for our failures. However, God has given us ALL the information we need to surrender and follow Him completely. If we don't that is on us.
If we study we see Moses did the same thing. He was told in Numbers 20 to SPEAK to the rock at Meribah but Moses instead struck it twice. He, therefore, was not obedient and didn't completely surrender to ALL the Lord had told him, and thus was not allowed to cross into the promised land. Yet instead of taking the blame, he placed it on Israel: Deuteronomy 1:37 NASB95 “The LORD was angry with me also on your account, saying, ‘Not even you shall enter there.
We all have a sinful nature, and from the very beginning, we attempt to pass the blame. Even Adam did this by blaming Eve and even God.
We all need help getting past this, and God has given us the information to help us. So let's join together and surrender to the command God has given through His God called leaders.
Moses spoke to the sons of Israel in accordance with ALL that the LORD had commanded Moses.
It is ALL there. Will we listen and follow, or not, and blame others?
