Are you hiding in the dark?

Children love to play hide and seek. When they are found they try to run back to the base without being caught. They hide, hoping not to be found, and when they are found, they try to escape the touch of the one who is seeking.

Children have played this game for 1000's of years. However, many adults attempt to play hide and seek with God and other adults. Only for them, it is not a game. Some don't even realize they are playing it. God takes this so seriously that He warns against it in Scripture. In the Old Testament in Numbers, 32:23b, it says, "be sure your sin WILL FIND you out. Then in our text today scripture says it again. 1 Timothy 5:24 NASB95 The sins of some men are quite evident, going before them to judgment; for others, their sins follow after.

There is absolutely NO HIDING OF YOUR SIN! You can attempt to all you want but as you open the cabinet to store it in the back God is there watching you. When you sin at night after your children have gone to bed. They might not see it right away but be sure God is watching. How many times have children been injured or killed by something their parents tried to hide?

It will be found!

You attempt to hide it from your spouse but eventually they find it. You attempt to hide it from your church and the Sunday School teacher teaches on it, the preacher preaches on it, and the music leader sings against it. There is absolutely no hiding your sin. You attempt to do it in the dark, but God is light, and He is omnipresent, so He is everywhere, and darkness flees in His presence. There is no hiding your sin.

God even makes it clear that not only will your sin find you out, (reveal you in it). Your sins either go before you, announcing your coming, or they follow after, announcing the wake of destruction your sins have and are causing.

We are all sinners. None is righteous and all have fallen short, but let these scriptures be a lesson to us. You can't hide it, so instead, confess it and repent of it. Seek God's guidance and strength and leave the sin behind and walk in Christ. Jesus said, Luke 13:3 NASB95 “I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.

Stop trying to hide your sin. Instead, confess and repent, for there is no hiding it. Sin will either lead you, follow you, or be washed away by the blood of Christ upon the confession and repentance of the sinner.

What it will never do is stay hidden!

Hide and seek is a kids game. Adults shouldn't try to play it with God. If you do, it then becomes dangerous. It is no longer a game, it is life or death for someone.
