Why do I feel like a failure?

The truth is that we are all failures because of sin. Romans 3:23 NASB95 — for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

We can not be who God designed us to be because of that sin. However, God loves you and this is why Jesus came. Romans 5:8 NASB95 — But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

We must all learn through the Holy Spirit to praise Him for who He is and what He has done and not to dwell on our failure. Ephesians 2:8-9 NASB95 — For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. Galatians 2:20 NASB95 — “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

When we realize this, then in our awe of who God is, we desire to live better for Him daily.

Not to receive anything, but because He provided everything already for us in His grace through our faith. A faith that He also provided. Romans 12:3 NASB95 — For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.

This again shows us His mercy and grace in providing us all a measure of faith so we can place it in Him. Then strive to live for Him. Romans 12:1-2 NASB95 — Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

With that, we desire to sacrifice our physical desire to please His Spiritual desire, simply because Ephesians 2:10 NASB95 — For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

The reason we feel as if we fail is because in the flesh we do and the Holy Spirit in us desires us to be changed into a life that is risen with Christ and therefore walks with Christ. Romans 8:29 NASB95 — For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren.

So when we are not showing Christ, then we feel like failures. However, if we just remember what Peter says. 1 Peter 5:6-11 NASB95 — Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.

In our failure, we should still praise Him for what He is doing through us. He has never failed and he won't fail in us who surrender to Him as our Lord and Savior!

Love Bro. Scott
