Living life in this fallen world is at its best living an afflicted life. There is not a single day that sin doesn't cause us to suffer with some sort of affliction. Sometimes it is physical and other times it is mental but it is always spiritual. All affliction is the result of sin. Sin causes a gulf to form between our Spirit and God thus all affliction has an effect on our spiritual life. For some it cause a sense of frustration and anger as the sin leads to a strengthening pride and widens the gulf of emptyness. For others it causes a sense of loneliness and a desire to seek God in humility. Jesus came to bridge the gulf by taking our sin wage and He will come again as our text describes.

2 Thessalonians 1:7 and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire,

Living in this affliction can seem overwhelming when we attempt to handle it on our own. It can feel like pressure building up inside of us that has no place to escape. However, when we rely on Jesus it is like getting a omnipotent strength Alka Seltzer that provides relief instantly. Don't let the affliction of this sin filled world cause you to implode under the pressure. Instead focus on the relief of Jesus as He releases all the weight of sin and brings a mercy that is undescribable as He gives us a Grace that is unattainable apart from Him. Don't focus on your affliction focus on the cure that is promised and will last for all eternity.

Love Bro. Scott
