To trust in mankind is to build a city on the foundation of wind. It rises and falls with the temperature, slows with friction, and changes direction as it is pressed. You can not give direction to the city as it is ever moving. You can not stay in the city as it never stays. It is unpredictable and never stable.
To trust in mankind is the same. They are here at this moment and there the next. They are on high for a while and down low for a time.
Scripture shows us they shout Hosanna at one moment and crucify the next. They scourage you at one point and say I find no fault in you the next.
Man is ever changing and is not where your trust can rest.
It doesn't matter if they are the poor in the crowd or the wealthy governor of the city, trust in either will bring about hurt.
David said it this way.
Psalm 62:9 NASB95 Men of low degree are only vanity and men of rank are a lie; In the balances they go up; They are together lighter than breath.
None can be trusted, the low degree are poor, and David calls them vanity, which means empty, and temporal at best. Men of rank are the wealthy men of power, and David said they are a lie; there is no honesty in their wealth or prestige, as it will burn in the end, and they will be left with nothing. If you put them both together you find they are lighter than air and waver with the wind. They are always changing and will pick you up and let you down based on their circumstances. They will point you in one direction and then change it as they are pressed. They will speed you up and slow you down depending on the friction they come against. This is not what you want to trust as a foundation to build a city on. This is not where you want to place trust in your life.
Scripture tells us that 1 Corinthians 3:11 NASB95 For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
This is where you must place your trust.
The Lord is the only unchanging one upon whom you will never have to move your trust.
Hebrews 13:8 NASB95 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
From the beginning to the end, scripture teaches that our faith needs to be in the Lord and not in mankind.
Be honest with yourself. Where have you placed your trust?
David says Don't put it in man whether rich or poor
Psalm 62:9 NASB95 Men of low degree are only vanity and men of rank are a lie; In the balances they go up; They are together lighter than breath.
