Acts 28:28 NASB95 “Therefore let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will also listen.”
What a great proclamation for all people in the world who are not Jews. Paul made it clear that the salvation offered by Jesus is available to all. Anyone who will listen to the gospel and believe in faith that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead will be saved.
I am deeply thankful for Paul's willingness to make this statement, while knowing that it could cost him his own life.
Paul was under house arrest in Rome awaiting trial. He had many leading Jews gathered to hear about the Way of Jesus! The one who claimed that He Himself was the only Way to the Father and eternal life and truth. John 14:6 NASB95 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
We need to realize the risk Paul was taking in making the Statement That Jesus was the only Way for Jews and Gentiles alike. He had already explained that he was in Rome to stand trial because many of the Jews in Jerusalem were against him for proclaiming the Way. Now as he is in the city where he would stand trial in front of Caesar, the ruler of the known world, he is risking doing the same thing with these Jews. Why would he do this again?
There is only one reason to risk his life by continuing to proclaim that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by Him. That is, Paul knew it was the truth. He cared enough to share the truth with both Jews and Gentiles alike even if it cost him his life.
Now understanding this listen to what Paul said again. Acts 28:28 NASB95 “Therefore let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will also listen.”
Risking mortal life itself so that all might have the chance to inherit eternal life. Paul was committed to sharing the Way!
His eternal life was secure in Jesus. So he had no hesitation in risking life here for your life there.
Do you have eternal life? If so are you sharing Jesus, the only Way to the Father, with others? What have you got to lose?
Many martyrs have understood the thought of Jim Elliott and therefore could not stop sharing the Way.
Jim Elliot said. "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose."
Let's all Share the Way!
No matter the cost, the reward in Jesus, is always abundantly greater!
