‭Joshua 14:14 Therefore, Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite until this day, because he followed the Lord God of Israel fully.

As a child of God salvation is secure. However, there should be a desire to live and work for Christ. The greatest thing about that work is that it is pleasing to the Lord. Yet there is even more than that. The work you do and the obedience of a life lived in Christ builds up rewards in heaven. We see an example of this in our text today. Caleb lived his life for God. Therefore when they went to spy out the promise land he gave a good report of how God would give them the land which He had promised. This was good works because of God not to earn God's blessings. However, God gave him a reward in the promise land. He gave Caleb an area that was controlled by giants. Caleb in His faith believed and was given this reward. We will receive these rewards also if we live a life of works because of our desire to obey God. That is not doing works to receive the reward but because God is God! Here is more great news. ‭Revelation 4:10-11 the twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying, “Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.”

We get to give our rewards back to God! I can't wait to cast my crowns back to the one who deserves them. However, we will only get that opportunity if we live and work for Christ. We want to hear "Well done good and faithful servant" the only way a God who can not lie can say this to us is if we have done well! It is time to examine, am I living and working well for my Lord Jesus?
