Ezra 10:4 NASB95 “Arise! For this matter is your responsibility, but we will be with you; be courageous and act.”


Many of the men of Israel had sinned by taking wives who worshipped idols. They had confessed to this sin and desired to be repentant of their sin.


Ezra gives them a word/command from God, "Arise!" He says Get with it. Repent of your sin. Stop living this way. You have turned your back on God to worship idols and to focus on your selfishness. Being prideful you have thought it was your desire that mattered instead of God's. Now you know that you were wrong in your sin. Arise and repent!


Many people today have realized or need to realize that they have been led away from God, by their pride of life, their lust of the eyes, and the lust of the flesh.


They desperately need to Arise and repent. We know this, but do we do what the verse says next? For this matter is your responsibility, but we will be with you; be courageous and act.”


We can not take their responsibility away from them. We can not repent for them. However, we can be with them, loving them, and encouraging them to stop sinning and return to God. Not only can we. We should be. Ezra says, "We will be with you." Now, you need to "be courageous and act" on your repentance!


We need to take this as an example, we do not accept their sin, or our sin. We confess and encourage them to do likewise. Then we assist them in their actions of repentance.


If they refuse we must not stop.


If we continue to read in this chapter we will see that it was not completed immediately but was a process.


Don't give up, don't give in, and don't quit helping them to see, confess, and repent of their sin.
