Satan has a lie that he has been using for millennia. He doesn't use it against lost people. No this is a lie he tells to those who are saved.
The lie is, "since you are forgiven you need not fear God!"
Satan, as he loves to do will twist truth into a lie to cause people to stumble over sin. He finds their temptation and he plants it right where they are. Then, when they are tempted, he tells them, Since you are saved, you can do this and not fear God. He says Don't worry about what others think of your sin. Do not think about whether it causes them to sin. Do not worry about your salvation, since it is secure. Instead, just do it. Sin, and give no thought to the fear of God. This is his lie and many Christians are being enticed into sin because of it.
God is unchanging, just like His word, which says. Psalm 33:8 NASB95 Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.
This says "ALL the Earth," even those who have Jesus as their Savior, should have a healthy fear of the Lord. It is not speaking of fear as in, "I want nothing to do with Him," but is saying fear as in an enormous amount of respect for who He is and the power He has. It is saying that we should have an understanding of the fact that by His words all things were created. By His words, all things are sustained. Since He has such power in His words we should be completely overwhelmed by His power.
If we have this kind of overwhelming respect for Him then when He says this in "Revelation 2:23 NASB95 ‘And I will kill her children with pestilence, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds."
Then we need to understand that this is what He will do to those of the churches who live in sin although they are saved. Thus we should fear the Lord!
Yet instead of an understanding of this, many believe the lie of Satan and say I am saved, so I have nothing to fear. If this is you do not forget that scripture says, Psalm 33:8 NASB95 Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.
So instead of believing the Father of lies, believe the truth, "Jesus," and His word, which says, "Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him."
Satan is not going to stop tempting you. In fact, he will tempt you more as a Christian. However, don't believe his lies that you have nothing to fear. Although your salvation is secure, if you don't have an enormous amount of respect for God's power and stand in awe of Him then you can expect that He will give to each one of you according to your deeds here on earth.
A fear of the Lord is healthy. So when Satan says "No fear, just do it." It would be healthy and wise for Christians to say "I fear God and will do only His will!"
