I have been to Mount Vernon (the home of George Washington) twice. I love history, and seeing the beauty of our first president's plantation was a highlight of both trips. As much as I enjoyed it, I hate to think that I might not have had the opportunity to see this wonderful piece of history. In 1850 the mansion and grounds were in bad shape. There was a danger of losing them forever. Until a group came in and purchased the estate and restored it.
God also has a place that He says will be restored and a people He will keep as His own. As much as I enjoyed Mount Vernon in its restored form, imagine what it will be like to see God restore His place and people.
Nahum 2:2 NASB95 For the LORD will restore the splendor of Jacob Like the splendor of Israel, Even though devastators have devastated them And destroyed their vine branches.
Time took a toll on Mount Vernon but God allowed the Chaldeans to take a toll on Judah. He did this because of their sin. Yet, because of God's Holiness, He will forgive and restore. I am thankful that God desires to restore. If he didn't, then imagine the disrepaired state we would be in for all eternity.
One day I will get to look upon the New Jerusalem restored into a splendor it has never had before. I will get to see this because, in God's great forgiveness, I will be restored into a new, righteous, and Holy body sanctified by the glory of God.
You know, I doubt Mount Vernon ever looked as well-kept as it is now. Because of that, I love seeing it.
Imagine what it will be like seeing what God will one day restore to better than it was while existing in sin.
I am excited about seeing God's finished work when He removes all the disrepair. If you place faith in Jesus you can experience His restoration as well.
Looking forward to that day!
Love Bro. Scott
