What do you want Jesus to do for you?
What is your greatest need?
Think really hard. Is your greatest need money? If Jesus provided you with a million US dollars would you be satisfied? What if our nation collapsed the next day and your million dollars was worthless would you still be satisfied? Maybe money isn't your greatest need.
Is your greatest need that certain person that makes you feel really special? If Jesus provided you that person, would you be satisfied? What if they had a stroke the next day and needed you to take care of them for the next 40 years? Suddenly they no longer made you feel so special. Jesus gave you what you wanted but would you still be satisfied? Maybe that person isn't your greatest need.
Is your greatest need for you to provide everything your child wanted? If Jesus enabled you to do that would you be satisfied? What if you provided them everything they wanted and then they killed your other children? If they were sentenced to prison for life and they blamed and hated you. Would you still be satisfied? Maybe providing everything for your child isn't your greatest need.
There was a blind man who heard Jesus was passing by and he cried out to Jesus. Then our text says, Mark 10:51-52 NASB95 And answering him, Jesus said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” And the blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, I want to regain my sight!” And Jesus said to him, “Go; your faith has made you well.” Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him on the road.
The blind man thought sight was his greatest need, but once he saw Jesus, he realized that seeing was only part of it. Jesus revealed to the man what His greatest need was and is. His greatest need was to be in the presence of Jesus. The text says he regained his sight and followed Him.
Instead, of asking for something that will disappear with the earth instead ask to see Jesus for who He is. Then if you have faith you will see and follow Him.
Your greatest need was provided. Romans 12:3 NASB95 For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.
God has allotted to each a measure of faith. Now ask Jesus to use that faith to really see Him.
Now you have all you need.
Follow Him to Eternal satisfaction.
