Song of Songs 5:8 NASB95 “I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, If you find my beloved, As to what you will tell him: For I am lovesick.”
The bride speaks and remember the bride is the church. She says I adjure you. She is saying swear to me by seven objects of most importance. Swear by perfection. Bind yourself with seven cords so that you can't escape this promise. Swear O daughters of Jerusalem, those who are not part of the church but are very close. Maybe they are under conviction or have heard the word but have not believed in faith. Swear that if you find my Beloved (Jesus), you will tell Him I desire to be in His presence greatly. He is my Lord and I want to be in His presence. The text reads For I am lovesick.
I desire to be in the presence of my God for I have no greater love than the love I have for the one who showed the greatest action of love, which is sacrificial death.
Has the Church shown the world such a desire today for its beloved the Groom? Have I shown such a desire to those whom I love here on earth who don't know Him? Have I shown my family and friends my desire is great to be in the presence of Jesus?
Song of Songs 5:9 NASB95 “What kind of beloved is your beloved, O most beautiful among women? What kind of beloved is your beloved, That thus you adjure us?”
The daughters of Jerusalem answer back. What kind of beloved is He? What is so special about Him? What about Him causes you to bind us in a promise of seven cords?
I asked, have we shown the world how strong our desire to be in His presence is? The reason I ask is that they are wondering why we desire to be in His presence. They are wondering what is so special about Him and it is our responsibility to explain this to them.
The Bride describes her groom as:
Song of Songs 5:10-16 NASB95 “My beloved is dazzling and ruddy, Outstanding among ten thousand. “His head is like gold, pure gold; His locks are like clusters of dates And black as a raven. “His eyes are like doves Beside streams of water, Bathed in milk, And reposed in their setting. “His cheeks are like a bed of balsam, Banks of sweet-scented herbs; His lips are lilies Dripping with liquid myrrh. “His hands are rods of gold Set with beryl; His abdomen is carved ivory Inlaid with sapphires. “His legs are pillars of alabaster Set on pedestals of pure gold; His appearance is like Lebanon Choice as the cedars. “His mouth is full of sweetness. And he is wholly desirable. This is my beloved and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.”
Do we have as much passion about describing Jesus? We should because, He is Lord, He is Savior, and He is God. Jesus is holy, righteous, just, loving, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, immutable, eternal, self-existent, humble, meek, full of mercy, grace, truth, and sacrificial. He is Immanuel, God with us. He is Jesus Jehovah's Salvation. He is the only Way to the Father. He is life! He is perfection. He is peace. He is!
I know I haven't shown Jesus to you at the level I should have. However, through this devotional that I am sending out, I desire you to know even more than the bride in the passage, that Jesus is immeasurably desirable, and I pray you will desire and find Him.
I adjure, you to seek Him! Then send this to others who need to understand how desirable Jesus is!
Love Bro. Scott
