Do you expect an answer from God when you talk to Him? Do you want an answer from God when you talk to Him? Do you believe God will answer when you talk to Him? When you talk to God are you prepared to hear the truth even if it shows you are in the wrong? If not then you are talking to God simply because you know you are commanded to and you don't really care what He will respond! I am going to say that again in case you missed it. If you are not expecting, desiring, or truly seeking a response from God when you pray then you are simply praying because you are commanded and you don't really care what His response is! One of the minor prophets understood this. Listen to what he says. ‭Habakkuk 2:1 I will stand on my guard post And station myself on the rampart; And I will keep watch to see what He will speak to me, And how I may reply when I am reproved.

Habakkuk didn't get up and pray then go about his business. No, he prayed told God his thoughts, desires, and expectations, then he went up in his guard stand and waited, watched, and expected an answer. He also wanted it to be a discussion. He said he would see what God would say and how he would respond. Then last and I believe most importantly he understood that he is not God and he will be reproved. We are not righteous. We are not perfect. We can not see the complete picture that God sees. So there will be times more often than not that God will correct us. This is a good thing. Everyone needs to be told when they are wrong. Otherwise they will continue on in their ignorance and not even realize it. This is the job of parents and thus our heavenly Father does this for us. The Bible says ‭in Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But a wise man is he who listens to counsel.

Unless we want to be a fool we should listen to the wise counsel and reproof from the Father through His Word. So don't be a fool pray to God wait and expect an answer. You should understand He is right so expect and desire correction and respond correctly. The correct responses is eager obedience in love to the Father!
