Deuteronomy 22:3 NASB95 “Thus you shall do with his donkey, and you shall do the same with his garment, and you shall do likewise with anything lost by your countryman, which he has lost and you have found. You are not allowed to neglect them.
How caring are we of our neighbors? We have become a nation of individuals instead of a nation of brothers and sisters. We no longer show love for the people around us as required by God.
This is different depending on the person and the region that they live but it is more common than in the past.
Our scripture tells us we are to care enough for our countrymen, neighbors, and friends, to care for items of theirs that they have lost. For many people, this is a strange idea. They have been taught and live by the creed, finders keepers, losers weepers. God, however, says you are not only not allowed to keep the item but you are to care for it until you can return it to the rightful owner. Is this the way you live? It doesn't matter if it is a large item or small, as a follower of Christ, you are to value the person more than their stuff.
If you find yourself valuing things more than people you are going against God and His design. Stop, pray, and ask God to help you understand the value of the person. You will find that as you value people you gain an invaluable gift. That is their love, respect, and assistance throughout life.
Stuff will end in fire people bound together in Christ will survive in His grace forever. How caring are you of others? God says be so caring that you will protect and care for their stuff even at great cost to you.
Christ cared for us at great cost. We must do the same for others?
