‭John 7:38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’ ”

This was the last day of the feast. They had celebrated the time in the wilderness where God had provided water from the rock and now on the last day they celebrated the, coming promise. The land flowing with milk and honey was to be the fulfillment of the promise God had made. They believed because of what God had done. He provided, during all the days of wandering. They believed He would still provide. Now back to our text. Jesus came and cried out with a loud voice. Wanting all to hear He said, "He who believes in me, from his innermost being will flow rivers of living water." Jesus is declaring that He is the provision the true fulfillment of the scripture. But then He reveals it is easy to believe because the Scriptures reveal me. I fulfill the scripture. How much effort does it take to believe? None of you truly believe because of who He is. I preached Sunday as 1 Corinthians 15:1 says we must receive (take a hold of the gospel) but this doesn't take any effort on our part because Jesus does all the work. He completed all the work so that He grabs a hold of us when we trust in Him. As Paul says in ‭Philippians 3:12 Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Christ did the taking hold of. He does all the work. The Scriptures reveal that Jesus is the Son of God. Surrender your trust and He will give you belief. Stop trusting in yourself and He will take over and take a hold of you. Then just as He gave the promise land He gives eternal salvation. As a river of living believing water flows from you. Stop trying to believe in yourself and He will cause you to believe in Him.

Love Bro. Scott
