Luke 10:37 NASB95 And he said, “The one who showed mercy toward him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do the same.”

This is the last verse of the Good Samaritan. The neighbor proved to be the person who showed mercy.

Who are you showing mercy to? Many people we come across daily need to see the love of Jesus. Yet, we walk by them sometimes looking the other way or crossing to the other side to avoid them.

Jesus made himself clear when He said "Go and do the same!" We need to be showing mercy to the down-and-out. It is a command from Jesus.

Mercy is to not receive the punishment that you deserve for your sins. This doesn't mean we shouldn't make sure that the person realizes their sin is wrong. Jesus told the woman caught in adultery, "Go and sin no more." However, He didn't punish her. He forgave. That is He showed her mercy while not ignoring her sin.

This is to be our example.

Are we showing mercy? If you want to be a good neighbor you will.

Are we showing mercy? If we want to obey Jesus then we will.

The one who showed mercy toward him.” was the neighbor. Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do the same.”

Love Bro. Scott
