How bad do you want to go to heaven, the promise land?

Jacob desired it so badly that it was the last thing he said to his children before he died.

Genesis 49:29 NASB95 Then he charged them and said to them, “I am about to be gathered to my people; bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,

He said he would be gathered to his people. He refers to his grandfather Abraham and his father Isaac.

Jesus assures us that God is the God of the living.

Matthew 22:32 I AM THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, AND THE GOD OF ISAAC, AND THE GOD OF JACOB ‘? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.”

Jacob wanted to be with his family, that is with God. He wanted to be in the promise land.

His assurance of this had nothing to do with the location of his dead body but the location of his faith. However, the picture of the promise land was a foretelling image of heaven.

God had made a promise to Jacob to bring him to the promise land and Jacob made a promise to God that He would be Jacob's Lord.

He said in Genesis 28:21 NASB95 and I return to my father’s house in safety, then the LORD will be my God.

Have you promised God that He will be your Lord? This means living for Him in obedience to Him. If so, then when you die, you will live for Him where He is.

The promise land, heaven, for all eternity.

I am excited to go to God, and because I have placed my faith in Him, I will go there.

I don't know what my last words of this life will be. However, I do know the first words in eternity will be spoken in love, reverence, and awe, to the Lord that took me home.

I am excited about going to my family around the throne.

Until then, I get excited to worship Jesus with my family the church, here!

How about you?

Love Bro. Scott
