Are you a member of a mob or a church?
Lamentations 5:21 NASB95 Restore us to You, O LORD, that we may be restored; Renew our days as of old,
The prayer of a pastor for his flock. Jeremiah had preached over and over. He had revealed the truth and yet the flock refused to follow. Known as the weeping prophet we understand why. He wept in love for sheep who refused his guidance. In some countries, a flock of sheep is known as a mob. I think this is only fitting as so often the flock of Jesus' sheep acts like a mob. The English definition of mob is a large uncontrollable group of people who tend to follow the majority. When the majority runs right, the rest of the mob follows suit. When the majority turns left the rest of the mob turns left. All the while the shepherd is trying to calm the mob and get them to listen to his voice.
Thankfully our shepherd doesn't give up on his flock. I was so disgusted at a meeting I attended in California as the flock of "Christ followers" were running in the direction of the wind. They went to and fro with no clear leadership. My desire is for the flock that I have been called to undershepherd will hear Christ's voice and obey.
I pray, Restore us to You, O LORD, that we may be restored; Renew our days as of old,
Will you join me in this prayer for the flock that you are a part of? I pray that today we will see churches renewed to the days of old, where the flock is joined together following the shepherd and not being a mob following the worldly majority.
Praying for the church, which too often looks like a mob.
Love Bro. Scott
