How great, mighty, and awesome is my God! He is love, and desires to forgive us. This morning as I was preparing for my Devo I found my mind wandering into thoughts of things going on in the world. My finger followed until I was reading a news article on my phone. I then realized I had allowed the world to distract me from my time with God. We all do this from time to time but I was convicted. So I sought God's forgiveness. How awesome is it that He is so willing to do so? I am afflicted with so many sins yet He is more loving and forgiving than I am afflicted. The scripture He led me to this morning says, ‭Psalms 149:4 For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the afflicted ones with salvation.

We have a God who takes pleasure in us. We need to realize that He refers to HIS PEOPLE. These are those who are His children. I have three children and I take pleasure in all three even though they do not always do what is right (and I don't like that,) they always have my love and I am excited to be their dad. The same goes for my grandchild. However, my love and excitement for them pale in comparison to God's. I pray they realize this and will desire to please Him more than me!

As God looked at me this morning before He convicted me I would have looked awful in the filth of my sin. I would have been dirty and ragged with the stitch of death. This is what sin covers us with. However, God didn't see that because I am His Child and I am washed in the blood of the Lamb and clothed in His righteousness. This is what our text means when it says, "He will beautify the afflicted ones with salvation." In the filth of my sin, God saw the beauty of His Son's righteousness when He looked at me. Simply because Jesus is my Savior and I am one of HIS PEOPLE. Praise the Lord. I will say again. How great, mighty, and awesome is my God! He is love and desires to forgive us.
