Amazed, Awe, Astonished, these words describe how I have felt on several instances in my life. When I BEGAN to understand the depth of my undeserving of God's Grace. I say began to understand because I still do not understand how undeserving I am. This makes me even more astonished at the vastness of His Grace!

The amazement and sudden fear in experienceing the birth of my children. Realizing the awesome responsibility that God gave me by intrusting them to me. The awe of the love I felt for them immediately.

The awe and being totally astonished that Stacey desires to be my wife.

The amazing feeling when my sins were forgiven as the Holy Spirit took up residency in me.

Yet all of these instances in my life pale in comparison to the amazement, the awestruck, astonishment, that Christ felt when He was refused by His own people.

Mark 6:6 NASB95 And He wondered at their unbelief. And He was going around the villages teaching.

The word wondered means amazement or astonishment. Jesus was astonished at the peoples unbelief! He went around teaching and yet with the creator teaching and with the Son of God fulfilling scripture people still found ways to not believe.

They used things like isn't he Mary's Son? Don't we know His brothers? This can not be.

They took what they saw and tried to make reality fit into their sight.

Faith is much greater than sight.

This is a problem people have today. They attempt to squeeze the reality and truth of faith and of God into the miniature space of understanding, vision, and theory. This is just not possible in the finite mortalness of man.

This is why God continually amazes and provides awesome, astounding, instances in our lives. It is because we can not comprehend the truth of faith in God!

However, one day we will stand before God and we will look back at life and we will understand why Jesus wondered at unbelief.

Do not be tricked by the weak, mistake prone, always changing, sight and finite knowledge of the flesh. Instead rely on the strong, unmistakable, neverwrong, eternal, and spiritual truth of faith.

The people in our text were living by sight and were wrong. This amazed Jesus because if they would have lived by faith they could have KNOWN the truth.

Just last night God revealed this to me in an illustration for you today. Let me share it with you. Last night after dark we were following a truck with a light bar across the back. From a distance it appeared to be two separate light bars. However, there was only one. It looked as if there were two because of a reflection on the truck. By faith we knew the truth even though our sight was wrong! Our sight deceived us. Our faith did not.

Don't astound Jesus with your unbelief. Live by faith. You will be amazed but your awe and astonishment will be grounded in Truth instead of a mistaken sight.

Love Bro. Scott
