Galatians 3:13 NASB95 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE”
When ordering things online, I often look for coupon codes. I love it when I see the price, and then I redeem the coupon by punching in the code, and the price drops maybe 20 or 30%.
The coupon takes on a portion of the cost in place of my money. Coupons are great. They cost me nothing, yet they pay my cost.
Jesus does the same thing for us. The law tells us we are to obey God. When we don't we have a debt to pay. That debt is death. It is a curse that comes with sin. When you don't obey God then you are cursed with death.
Lie - die. Cheat - die. Steal - die. Covet - die. Refuse God's will - die.
Sin is being out of the will of God.
Do not obey God and die.
The curse that is death is real and will cost you everything. Nothing you have on earth will you possess in Hell. You will not have friends or loved ones in death. Because of your curse, you will have nothing. The curse is extremely expensive! However, Christ redeems us by taking our place, much like the coupon takes the place of money. Christ paid our curse so we wouldn't have to.
He did this on Calvary as he was crucified on a wooden cross. A tree was used to hang my Savior on, in place of me!
Paul says it is written, CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE."
Jesus was cursed on a tree in my place. In your place as well. He became our redemption.
Deuteronomy 21:22-23 NASB95 “If a man has committed a sin worthy of death and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree, his corpse shall not hang all night on the tree, but you shall surely bury him on the same day (for he who is hanged is accursed of God), so that you do not defile your land which the LORD your God gives you as an inheritance.
Jesus committed no sin. He was not worthy of death. However, He was our redemption because our sins cost was death, and He took our place.
Do you believe this? Will you confess your sins to Christ and be forgiven.
His redemption and your salvation are available and ready for you to receive it. Will you?
The thing about a coupon is unless you use it then it does you no good.
