2 Samuel 14:14 NASB95 “For we will surely die and are like water spilled on the ground which cannot be gathered up again. Yet God does not take away life, but plans ways so that the banished one will not be cast out from him.

The text for today speaks of Absalom, the Son of King David who had fled from the King. He had done so after seeking revenge and killing his brother who had raped his sister.

The verse talks of Absalom being reunited with the king. However, it paints a picture of the truth of life and death.

It says; "For we will surely die and are like water spilled on the ground which cannot be gathered up again." The picture is that at physical death our eternal fate is decided and can not be changed. It is sealed. If you are guilty of sin then death is eternal. However, "God does not take away life." He gives life. He has no desire for life to be lost or disregarded." Instead, He desires all to have life eternal. So He sets up a way, "so that the banished one will not be cast out from him." This is a picture of Jesus.

We know in the end even though David offers Absalom the opportunity to be back in the king's presence, he still continues on in his way of sin. He basically refused the gift. This is a picture of our free will to receive or deny Jesus. When Absalom is killed David mourns. This shows us how God mourns every soul who refuses of their own free will to accept the Way God gave for us to remain in and receive life.

The choice is 100 percent yours. Christ fulfilled the plan will you accept or like Absalom refuse. If you refuse, you will be like water spilled on the ground which cannot be gathered up again.

Do not cause God to mourn you. He already mourned His Son who died in your place.

Today, accept and/or share the gift from the living heart of God. It is eternal life in Jesus!

He painted multiple pictures throughout the Old Testament to show His plan. Will you hang the picture in your heart?

Praying you will.

Love Bro. Scott
