Acts 19:5 NASB95 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

They were baptized, which means they were submerged into, covered over with, and completely engulfed, into the name of the Lord Jesus. This happened when they heard. The text says when they heard. Romans 10:17 NASB95 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

They heard the Gospel the good news of Christ. There is very little doubt that they were also baptized into the water as a sign of the salvation offered and received when they became engulfed by the power of the name of Jesus. As they believed the word of Christ then the Holy Spirit came upon them.

Paul laid hands on them for prayer and baptism as the Spirit indwelled them. They no longer wondered as before about whether or not there was a Holy Spirit.

They were in Christ engulfed into Him as the Holy Spirit was engulfed into them. Taking up residence in and giving light to the power of God.

M. Henry refers to the need of making assurance to the possession of the Holy Spirit as you are baptized into Christ, (not just water).

It should concern us all who profess the Christian faith seriously to enquire whether we have received the Holy Spirit or not. The Holy Spirit is promised to all believers who ask for Him. Luke 11:13 NASB95 “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”

But many are deceived in this matter, thinking they have received the Holy Spirit when really they have not. As there are pretenders to the gifts of the Holy Spirit, so there are to His grace and comfort. We should, therefore, strictly examine ourselves. Have we received the Holy Spirit since we believed?

The tree will be known by its fruits. Do we bring forth the fruits of the Spirit? Are we led by the Spirit? Do we walk in the Spirit? Are we under the governmental authority of the Holy Spirit?

If you can not answer yes to these then great evaluation is needed.

Perhaps you have ONLY been baptized into repentance. While repentance is vital it is only the entrance into the temple. You must be Baptized into Christ, to realize the Way into the Holy of Holies and the presence of the Father after being indwelled by the Spirit!

Once again I repeat, I am not speaking of into water but into Christ, submerged into Him.

Praying that you are engulfed into Jesus and indwelled by the Holy Spirit! If not, please give me a call. I would love to share Jesus with you.

He is the Way and that is Him the Truth to Him the Life!

Love Bro. Scott
