2 Kings 24:2 NASB95 The LORD sent against him bands of Chaldeans, bands of Arameans, bands of Moabites, and bands of Ammonites. So He sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD which He had spoken through His servants the prophets.

The LORD sent.

You must not miss this statement. It shows that God is serious about His people following Him. People tend to think God doesn't care, watch, pay attention to, or respond to the daily life of His people. However, this text shows that He does care. He does pay attention, and He does respond to how His people live daily.

Our text reveals that His response to sin is to punish it. The text says, The LORD sent against him. The LORD, which in Hebrew is written YHWH, was not pleased with the sin of the king of His chosen people. He also, was not pleased with the sin of His people, so He sent AGAINST them. The LORD brought punishment upon them because of their daily sins.

Our text also reveals that He has many weapons in His arsenal. He didn't strike them with heavenly hosts. He didn't strike them with physical illness and suffering. He didn't bring natural disasters on them. Although He had the power and right to do so with all of these. He instead, chose a different weapon from His arsenal. The text says, The LORD sent against him bands of Chaldeans, bands of Arameans, bands of Moabites, and bands of Ammonites. Notice He has the right to weaponize even His own enemies to carry out His punishment for sin.

We tend to think that God shouldn't punish those whom He has saved. However, do we think or consider that those of us who have been saved by the shed blood of the sacrifice of His Son, should not sin daily?

We deserve punishment and His punishment is always just. He being the Creator, also has the right to use His creation for any of His righteous desires. If He so chooses to use creation that has refused His salvation, to punish the ones who have received it but live in daily sin, then that is His right as LORD.

Romans 9:21 NASB95 Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use?

The text finishes with, So He sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD which He had spoken through His servants the prophets.

God explains everything through His word and all creation. So we are without excuse. Romans 1:20 NASB95 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

We have no excuse. This text reveals that He has given us this text, along with the rest of scripture, so that we can understand that God has the right to punish our daily sins. He also has the right to use those who refuse Him, to punish those who receive Him and yet still desire and strive to live in sin.

So don't be surprised or angry when the lost appear to be blessed while we saved sinners appear to be punished.

His word also reveals that the saved will inherit eternal life. While in contrast the lost will suffer eternal death in Hell.

So in the end, and for all eternity, those who live in righteousness will be blessed. While the lost will not.

No matter what we experience on this earth, we need to PRAISE the LORD!!!

Love Bro. Scott
