Micah 6:8 NASB95 He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?

Imagine your spouse and you are discussing what you two will eat for supper all week. You say we have had several exotic dishes lately and I am not a fan. I would like to go back to some normal meals. So you agree on Spaghetti for Monday, Pork chops and fried vegetables for Tuesday. Wednesday is to be Sloppy Joe's because you don't have much time to get to Church, and Thursday, you will have Fried Chicken and mashed potatoes.

On Monday, you get home, and your spouse has cooked Maltese pastizzi. After eating, they ask what did you think? You say not my favorite. Then Tuesday you have Harissa-roasted partridge. After the meal, you are asked the same question. To which you respond I didn't like it. I thought we were having pork chops. Wednesday, in a rush, you come home to a sloppy joe sandwich, but it has all kinds of vegetables in it. You say what is this and your spouse responds sloppy joes made from curried goat. You choke it down and are asked again what do you think? You respond it would have been better with hamburger. Thursday is your day to cook. You can't wait to get home and fry those chicken breasts. You come in, and lying on the counter is a recipe with all the ingredients for Chicken Liver Pappardelle. You run to the fridge. There are no chicken breasts, just Chicken livers. You ask your spouse what happened to the fried chicken? You hear. You are always complaining about the food. What will it take to make you happy? You respond I have already told you. I would like some normal meals like we discussed last week.

You think to yourself why don't people listen?

I wonder does God say the same thing to us?

I have already told you. Why won't you listen?

Micah 6:8 NASB95 He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?

God said I require from you justice. While justice does mean receiving the punishment you deserve it also has another meaning. Justice is very close to love and grace. God “executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and shows His love for the alien by giving him food and clothing (HIBD)

So God is saying help those who are in need.

He says love kindness. This refers to keeping your obligations. Doing what is expected of you. Don't let people down but instead live like Christ so they get from Christians what Christ would give.

So God is saying follow the obligations that come with the name of Christians.

Last, God says He expects us to walk humbly with your God.

To be humble is to keep God first, others second, and you last. This is not to think less of yourself but to think of yourself less.

Make decisions based on God's kingdom and helping others to receive the gift of His kingdom. This is not natural. We are prideful selfish people by our sinful nature. It is only through the Holy Spirit we can succeed in this.

So God says to keep Him first and seek His kingdom for others.

These are the things God has laid out. He desires these things. Yet we come to Him with

"They need to help themselves first. I am like Christ in Church and God; you are first after me. Then we wonder why He convicts us that He isn't happy with our lives. Maybe He just desires us to hear and do what we agreed to when we discussed this with Him at Salvation.

Just a thought. I doubt He likes Chicken Liver Pappardelle either.

Love Bro. Scott
