Mark 9:24 NASB95 Immediately the boy’s father cried out and said, “I do believe; help my unbelief.”

Immediately before this verse, three of the disciples had the opportunity to see Jesus in glory with Moses and Elijah. Peter was so amazed at this sight that he asked if he could build three tabernacles. The faith of these three men was strengthened.

Now they come down the mountain, and the rest of the disciples are struggling with faith as they cannot heal a boy with fits of an uncontrollable nature.

With them is the boy's father who says to Jesus, if you can do anything, help us. Jesus replied, "All things are possible to him who believes.”

Lack of faith is a problem that many struggle with. Especially when things are going bad. They want to believe but suffer from unbelief. They desire faith but lack it.

The boys father realizes this and as our text says Immediately the boy’s father cried out and said, “I do believe; help my unbelief.”

Have you ever asked Jesus to increase your faith? We can see by His works in this chapter that He desires to. He did it for the three. He does it for the boy, his family, and the rest of the disciples, and He will do it for you! Do you ask and seek Him to? My heavenly Father grows my faith daily as I seek His guidance on so many things. Some of them extremely small in nature others very large. The question is, when He answers, will we follow in faith? Last week, in the middle of a song, God told me to GO TO THE ALTAR NOW AND PRAY! I immediately went forward. Many times in the middle of the sermon He will give me something upon which I need to follow right then. When I am obedient, He grows my faith. You see faith is grown by exercising faith.

If you ask God to help your unbelief (lack of faith), expect Him to give you something to exercise it in obedience. The boy's father said I do believe. Then he said help my unbelief. He is asking Jesus to grow his faith even more. Jesus' response to this was healing the boy.

In his faith, Jesus gave the boy's father an answer that helped his unbelief.

Do you respond in exercises of faith as God grows your faith? If we will then daily, hourly, minute by minute, and every second He will be pleased to increase your faith.

Lord, I pray everyone will ask you to help their unbelief, and as you grow their faith, they will be obedient in response with more faith.

Amen.

Love Bro. Scott
