Ecclesiastes 10:9-10 NASB95 He who quarries stones may be hurt by them, and he who splits logs may be endangered by them. If the axe is dull and he does not sharpen its edge, then he must exert more strength. Wisdom has the advantage of giving success.

Life in a sinful world contains dangers. I remember as a child watching The Flintstones. Fred would be working in the quarry using his dinosaur crane to move stones. Suddenly something would go wrong and the dinosaur would toss the stone in the air and it would land on Fred's head. The stone would bust into pieces and He would get a knot on his head, but he would be ok.

This is not the way it is when living in a world that is upside down with sin. Yes, there are dangers, many of them, but they are real. They are not funny. When a stone hits someone it causes serious pain and you don't recover instantly.

Solomon warns to use wisdom in this world. If working with stones wear a hard hat, be cautious, and keep your eyes on the lookout. If you are splitting logs you can get hurt. So Solomon warns that you should work wise. He says make sure the axe is sharp so you don't have to swing with as much effort and risk losing control. Doing this will decrease the chance of injury.

However, no matter what we do in this fallen world there is danger. This is why Solomon tells us to be wise. A wise man plans ahead. A wise man makes sure he has all he needs for the job. A wise man is educated about the things he is going to do. A wise man has a plan in place in case of injury. He has a health insurance plan that guarantees he will get whatever treatment he may need in case of injury. A wise man has a life insurance policy to take care of his loved ones.

This is all speaking of the physical side of life. However, eternal life needs the same wisdom used. You see living in a fallen world, born of man, ensures that you are fallen too. This means your eternal spiritual life is in danger. You are looking ahead to not just physical death but also spiritual death. That is unless you have made arrangements, and planned ahead. To plan ahead you need to familiarize yourself with the instruction manual, it is God's holy word. Then you make sure you have what is needed for the Job. Jesus the Lord and Savior is the one you need. He is all that is needed to be saved from the danger of hell. Then you need to get educated about life in this fallen world. Jesus will provide you with the ultimate interpreter to provide understanding. His name is God the Holy Spirit. He will give you a great understanding of the job ahead. This job is living in and for Christ. Being a witness in your life by modeling Christ is one part of the job. Sharing the Way, which is Christ, is another. When you do this you have insurance. You are insured by the hand of God.

His policy declares in Romans 8:37-39 NASB95. But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

By living this way in Christ, and Sharing Him through the Gospel, we are leaving our loved ones with the greatest life insurance policy ever known.

However, it is always up to them to have faith that it will pay off. They must accept and receive it.

Solomon explains that life is dangerous here on earth we need to be prepared. Then live in the wisdom of Christ. Leaving His love with those we leave here.

Life insurance:

Jesus paid for it. We can only offer it. Then it is up to them to accept it.

Love Bro. Scott
