1 Peter 2:9-10 NASB95 But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD; you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY.

The stones for the temple were quarried off-site and brought to the Temple Mount to be used in perfect order, perfectly matching for precision fit. Yet, one came that didn't look the same. They examined it and decided it was not right, it wasn't what they were expecting. They brought it over to the ridge of the mount and rolled it down into the valley of Gehenna. It was the city's trash dump. Many days later, as they attempted to fit the stones together, there was a problem. One stone was missing it appeared to be much different from the rest. It was different from what they expected. Then someone remembered the stone they had rejected and rolled down into the trash heap. They went and got it out only to find it was the perfect fit. It was the cornerstone.

Jesus is the cornerstone of eternal life. He was not what they expected. He was different and He was rejected. He was discarded to death but came back to be the perfect fit for all to be saved.

You have been chosen to be a cornerstone in the gospel for someone else.. 1 Peter 2:9-10 NASB95 But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION,

God has chosen you for a reason. The reason is;

So that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

You had no light for sin ruled and then Jesus brought light and sin fled. In Jesus, you are now a people of God.

for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD; you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY.

No longer will you need to suffer Gehenna (hell) but you have been brought into the temple as a son of God.

That is if you have Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

I pray you do. But if you don't or you are unsure, then seek Him and find a follower of Jesus to help you. Get plugged into a Bible-preaching church, and be His people.

Ps; a note on the amazingness of God. In my prayer time this morning, God led me to Hosea for my personal study time. Then in prayer, He led me to 1 Peter for the devotional. The scripture that Peter quotes in our text is from Hosea.

This is our Amazing God!

Coincidence? I don't believe in Coincidence I believe in God.

Coincidence that the stone story points to Jesus? I don't believe in Coincidence I believe in God.

Coincidence that Hosea's text points to Israel and then us? I don't believe in Coincidence I believe in God.

A coincidence is, when God does something that a person lacking faith in God, can't explain.
