Proverbs 14:4 NASB95 Where no oxen are, the manger is clean, But much revenue comes by the strength of the ox.

Labor has its rough, unpleasant side, yet it ends in profit. So also, the life of contemplation may seem purer, “cleaner “than that of action. The outer business of the world brings its cares and disturbances, but also “much increase.” There will be a sure reward of that activity in good works for him who goes, as with “the strength of the ox,” to the task to which God calls him. (Barnes)

Man lives his life desiring to hear from the Lord "Well done good and faithful servant"

Will the servant who always leaves the ox in the field to avoid cleaning the stall hear well done? An ox that is fed and provided a place to rest is expected to pull a heavier load than a tired and hungry ox.

God has provided for His ox a manger stall for the animal to be refreshed. He has provided a shepherd to care for the sheep. Yet when the ox runs away and the sheep flee they will not receive the care.

The manger shall be used daily for the work to continue. The ox will be cared for so the work will continue.

Don't avoid the work, for if you do, you will avoid the reward.

Don't avoid God's rest, for if you do, you will not have the strength to continue.

The stall is clean and ready for you to bring in the filth of the world and be left for the servant to clean away tomorrow.

All the oxen are fed but only the ones who work are cleaned.

The ox outworks the horse, but both are cared for when they carry their load. With each hand full of fodder and brushing away the dirt the master says well done.

It may be easier to keep the manger clean with no oxen but the work of the master won't get done without the shoulders of the ox.

There is no well done unless the servant has done well.

Whether you are to care for the ox or you are the ox the master says the talents have been given don't waste them in the dirt. Instead, invest them in the work.

Love Bro. Scott
