1 Samuel 12:14 NASB95 “If you will fear the LORD and serve Him, and listen to His voice and not rebel against the command of the LORD, then both you and also the king who reigns over you will follow the LORD your God.

Every four years there is a great debate and division in our country. Every four years a portion of the population feels as if the new President will get our country straightened out. Every four years a portion of our nation feels as if the New President will ruin our nation beyond repair. Every four years, a portion of our nation feels as if the New President is of no concern, and it doesn't matter who is in office.

Then some put complete trust in God and know He is a God of His word. God told Israel through Samuel these words and they go for all nations. "If you will fear the LORD and serve Him, and listen to His voice and not rebel against the command of the LORD, then both you and also the king who reigns over you will follow the LORD your God."

Now, that is not to say it doesn't matter who is in office. We know this because God picked the man to lead Israel. He picked Saul, and He picked David. We should care and pray over every election and we should vote for the right one. However, we must realize that what God looks at in whether our leaders will follow Him, is whether or not the people will fear the LORD and serve Him, and listen to His voice and not rebel against the command of the LORD. It is not up to the leaders as much as it is up to the people. Do you want our nation to be a Christian nation? Do you want our leaders to be Christian leaders? Do you want God to Bless our nation? Then fear the LORD and serve Him, and listen to His voice and not rebel against the command of the LORD. His voice tells us to go (as you are going (to die)) and make disciples. Be a witness for Christ in all you do. Be in awe with reverent fear of the Lord God. Live your life in service to God by teaching others about the importance of a relationship with Jesus. Do not say no, but in all things, obey the Lord. If the church will strive to do this continually "then both you and also the king who reigns over you will follow the LORD your God."

Every four years, remind people to pray and seek God on who they should vote for. Then go and vote. However, remember the solution to the sinfulness of our nation is not in a president but in a God and the willingness of his church to fear the LORD and serve Him, and listen to His voice and not rebel against the command of the LORD!

In other words, it relies on us obeying and going and making disciples in the name of Jesus!
