Song of Solomon 6:12 NASB1995 Before I was aware, my soul set me Over the chariots of my noble people.”

Salvation is instantaneous.

This verse speaks of the Shulamite woman who had seen the majesty of the King. She now has a desire for him. So she goes looking. The verse immediately preceding our text reveals that she went to the gardens to look at his glorious place.

We see a true desire and an active seeking. Then our text says Before I was aware. It happened in an instant. With her belief (faith) her soul was placed on a chariot of noble people. She joins the family of God.

In an instant she received salvation. We must remember that the Song of Solomon is a poetic book with Spiritual truth. It reveals the truth of the life of Solomon and His love for the Shulamite while, in poetic form, showing us heavenly truths. She felt the need (conviction), and she looked for him (confession). She had trust that he desired her (faith), and her soul was taken before she realized it (instantaneously) onto the chariot of God (Salvation).

Matthew 7:7-8 NASB1995 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

One great truth revealed in the Song of Solomon is the passion and depth of the shared love and desire. As you read the text you can feel it in God's words. Every word is spoken and penned with great love. They desire deeply to point you to Christ.

We miss this so often, and thus, many will miss out on salvation, simply because their faith is superficial. Their confession is false, as they attempted to fool their conviction.

Over time you can see this in the lack of effort to work out their salvation. Paul says in Philippians 2:12 NASB1995 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling;

True Salvation is secured at the moment of justification but is continually worked out through the remaining physical life of fruit production. (Obedient service to the King)

Perhaps this is why so much of the Song of Solomon takes place in a garden.

The Word of the Lord is amazing as it lives and blooms producing fruit in those who have been saved in an instant as they responded to the conviction, confessed, and relied on faith.

Are you on the Chariot of God's noble people?

You can be!
