1 Peter 3:15 NASB95 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;
This time of year we recognize the birth of a Savior but we must not forget that he is Lord. The text says to Sanctify Christ. Sanctify means to consecrate or to make and declare. Then the text tells us who to declare. The person is Christ, which means anointed and chosen one. We are to declare and make Him Lord. Lord in Greek is kyrios, it means Supreme Authority one who has all control and is complete master. God gave us free will so we could choose for Him to have Supreme Authority in our heart. Which represents the center of our being. This represents a complete filling. Not feeling but filling so that there is no vacant, empty, or otherwise occupied part of you. You are filled to over flowing with Jesus as Lord of your life because you freely declared Him as such in the center of your being.
I ask this CHRISTmas have you freely choosen to freely give Supreme Authority in your heart to Jesus so that He is Lord in the most inner part of who you are.
If you have done this people will notice. They will notice because of the hope (assurity of what you don't see) in Christ that exudes out of you always and with consistency. The Lordship of Jesus in you will look so different from the world that they will ask questions.
The text says we need to be ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;
We should be ready to give an answer for that hope that they see because of the Lordship of Christ. That answer with gentleness and reverence is what will encourage them to seek Him as Lord of their heart as well.
So I ask this CHRISTmas have you made and declared Jesus as Lord in your heart?
Are people asking about the hope they see in you?
Are you ready to give an answer to them in gentleness showing reverence to the Lord who is your Supreme Authority filling you completely?
If this is the case for you then let's start a new greeting during this time. "Merry CHRISTmas, it is so exciting to have Christ as my Savior and Lord!"
Love Bro. Scott
