1 Thessalonians 5:7-11 NASB95 For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night. But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him. Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.

Christians are people of the light (day) because God is light (1 John 1:5). We should sleep at night. Clear minded sober and ready, resting in peace, with faith, and love, in Christ. We do this in the hope (confident, excited anticipation of what we know is secured in the concrete of Christ) that Christ is coming again to save us with life eternal in His presence, worshipping God. We know this to be fact by His word that He has not destined the believers who live in the light of God to be destined for wrath. Rather, through Jesus our Lord and His death for us, we have been destined to be together with Him. It doesn't matter if we are resting peacefully in the exciting anticipation of His coming to bring our salvation as He calls us to meet him in the air, or if we are awake, watching eagerly, and preparing for His return.

This is exciting and encouraging for those who are not out living in the darkness of night, drunk and not anticipating His glorious return. For those their hope rest in something that dulls their mind, and makes them confused and intoxicated, as they have no clarity of mind. We then must seek to work during the light to show them the faith, love, and hope, provided in the salvation of Christ. I encourage you to keep on keeping on in the confidence of Christ being clear minded resting in the glory of His attoning work. Live in the light. rest in His assurance during the dark.

He is coming again!

Love your Bro. In Christ. That is if you are in the light.
