Titus 1:2 NASB95 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago,

Eternal life. Exist outside of time. Since without time there is no end or beginning.

In hope of, is faith in, which is a longing or a great desire for what we know to be true.

Paul longs for and desires what he knows to be true. This longing and desire is for eternal life. Life outside of time in the presence of the one who is eternal. The one who always was, is now, and forever will be. The one with no beginning and no end who Himself created time for us to live in. The self-existing one who to redeem us from our sin placed Himself inside of time so we could live in Eternity.

Paul's hope, and ours as well, depends on the one we have talked about above. The one who in truth revealed that He cannot lie. All that He says is truth because in Him is omnipotence, which is all power. What He says happens. As He said in Genesis 1:3 NASB1995 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

God speaks, and out of His omnipotent power, it is truth. He said, Let there be light,” and there was light. Since He has revealed in His truth the power to not lie. We know that Paul and our hope in Eternal life is true. What God speaks is promised!

It has remained truth since the beginning. He has revealed it long ago and it is still revealed today. He promised or spoke it long ages ago.

Ago means before or beginning, and ages means a space or time.

So before the beginning of time, God spoke a promise of eternal life. He created us with it, and when man gave it away with sin, He offered it back to us by His Son, paying the debt of death, the wages of sin (ending of life), and then defeating death to live again eternal. In this, we can place our faith because Paul's God, and mine (hopefully yours), can not lie.

Oh, how powerful is the spoken word of God.

True and eternal is life in the promise of God!

Titus 1:2 NASB95 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago,
