Psalm 114:7-8 NASB95 Tremble, O earth, before the Lord, Before the God of Jacob, Who turned the rock into a pool of water, The flint into a fountain of water.

God spoke.

Jesus is the rock providing life.

The Holy Spirit is a fountain flowing to others in conviction.

Romans 9:33 NASB95 just as it is written, “BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE, AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.”

Consider how God utilized the rock in the Old Testament.

Exodus 17:6 NASB95 “Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.” And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

The rock provided water so they could live.

To the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well, John 4:10 NASB95 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

Jesus was willing to give living water so she may live eternal.

The flint is our heart. Zechariah 7:12 NASB95 “They made their hearts like flint so that they could not hear the law and the words which the LORD of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets; therefore great wrath came from the LORD of hosts.

With hearts like flint, we do not hear. However, Hebrews 4:12 NASB95 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

John 4:14 NASB95 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”

The word Lord in our text is Adon, the beginning of Adoni, meaning sovereign, and also referencing plural, showing the God head. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, IS the sovereign God. (I know in proper English, IS should be ARE, but speaking properly of God, I have it correct.)

God created the earth and provides the water. He softens and cleans the heart to receive and multiplies to be shared with others His eternal life.

That is the sovereign God. Three in one. He is ready to make you a well of living water.
