Zephaniah 1:17-18 NASB95 I will bring distress on men So that they will walk like the blind, Because they have sinned against the LORD; And their blood will be poured out like dust And their flesh like dung. Neither their silver nor their gold Will be able to deliver them On the day of the LORD’S wrath; And all the earth will be devoured In the fire of His jealousy, For He will make a complete end, Indeed a terrifying one, Of all the inhabitants of the earth.

Stumbling over the smallest crack, pebble, incline, or decline, is something that happens to people when they get older. However, this is something that blind people have to learn to deal with at a very young age. God says this stumbling will come upon men in the day of wrath to a great extent. They will stumble, just as a newly blind person, "Because they have sinned against the LORD." Sin is so dangerous it should never be played with. Yet many believers hang their hat on God's mercy. They completely forget He is also just and righteous. He paid the total price so that you could believe and receive.

The scripture continues, "their blood will be poured out like dust And their flesh like dung."

Does that sound like something anyone would want?

Benson explains why this is. He says, "Sin gives honour which is only due to the one living and true God, to images, or fictitious gods, and therefore, in a peculiar manner, intrenches on God’s glory. It is so contrary in its nature to the truth and fitness of things, and to all that is reasonable, just, and proper. It has so great a tendency to corrupt and debase men’s minds, and the practice of it is so unfit in every point of view, that the Scriptures, to give men some idea how odious it is, and what a great provocation to the Most High, represent Him as jealous of having that honour which is only due to Him, given to another.

What a powerful description of sin!

Because sin is so vile, the scripture says, "Neither their silver nor their gold Will be able to deliver them On the day of the LORD’S wrath." You can go after money, lust, food, clothing, shelter, and any other thing that you can store up to help you get through the wrath of the Lord, but you will not be delivered by any of it! All the earth will be devoured In the fire of His jealousy, For He will make a complete end, Indeed a terrifying one, Of all the inhabitants of the earth.

I am so thankful this comes after the rapture. Sin brings this kind of destruction upon those who refuse Jesus and or attempt to make a mockery of His atonement.

You can't prepare you can only surrender now to Jesus.

Love and praying, Bro. Scott
