What is the absolute best gift you have ever received?

I remember getting a bicycle for CHRISTmas one year as a child. Living in the north, there was snow on the ground and it was impossible to ride in that deep snow. Therefore I rode from the kitchen through the living room down the hall. Then I would turn into the bathroom. Walk it back into the hall and ride back to the kitchen. My brother, who also received a bicycle, did the same. We repeated this over and over for days until the snow was melted enough that we could ride in the yard. I thought that this was the best gift ever. I was blessed with a son and a daughter I still get tears in my eyes when I think of the blessing they are and what an amazing gift was given to me. I have been given the most wonderful wife in the world. (Sorry to all the rest of you guys) I have been given such an awesome gift in that I get to spend my life with her. I have been gifted the cutest granddaughter there is. My heart melts when she gives me a hug. I could go on and on about all the love in the rest of my family, as it keeps growing. I was given an opportunity to pastor a church that I love. I have been given some great gifts. However, none of these compares to the greatest gift I was ever given. It is the gift of eternal life in Jesus my Lord and Savior!

Jesus met a woman at Jacob's well and asked her for a drink. She was surprised that a Jew would ask a Samaritan for a drink. Listen to what Jesus said to her. John 4:10 NASB95 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

If you KNEW the GIFT OF GOD. If you KNEW. Do you know the greatest gift? I am telling you there is no greater gift than eternal life in Jesus! That bike is gone. One of my parents is gone. Grandparents, spouses, children, grandchildren, loved ones, and ALL OTHER GREAT GIFTS WILL GO AWAY! Only ETERNAL LIFE will last! I love my wife, she is the absolute best, but she will let me down. So have my children, and if I have ever been a gift to anyone I KNOW I have let them down. All and every gift will fade away, but oh, if you will take a drink of living water from the Savior, you won't be let down!

I have, from time to time, walked away from the well, but the water is still in me.

The greatest gift I have ever been given came from an empty cross and an empty tomb. It was handed to me by a risen Savior and it quenched my thirst so that I know I am blessed with the GIFT of Eternal Life!

Have you ever taken a drink of living water from Jesus?

Love Bro. Scott
